We went to the Fourth at the Fort Celebration at Fort Lee.  We were accompanied by one of Danny’s friends from A&M, who is now at Fort Lee for his training.

Cleared

Today I went to my medical exam to be approved for travel to Germany.  I am cleared for travel.  I had to get a tetanus shot which is making my arm sore now.  Sleepies are coming on now.  After my appointment, I went to the ACS and sign up for a financial readiness class from 1300 to 1500 tomorrow. I have another class tomorrow at 0930 at the FAP (Family Advocacy Program) on baby basics.  I got two mini beef and chedder sandwiches from Arby’s for lunch.  Now I am taking it easy for the rest of the day.

Eventful Tuesday

So the plan to wake up and go work out at 7:30 was a failure.  I got out of bed a little after nine and ate breakfast. I killed a little time this morning trying to sign up for classes at the ACS but that didn’t go as planned.  Note to self: don’t try to sign up for classes the day of the class.  After that ordeal, I went to the Wal-Mart in Colonial Heights to return some dishware.  I came away with 7 powerade zeros for .78 each, two cards, and a new items for my wardrobe.  I returned to the hotel and ate lunch.

My second round of errands began at Rite Aid where I picked up some medication.  I then began the adventure of trying to find the Appomattox River Regional Site.  Once I got there I spent about an hour and a half walking the trails, seeing the river and taking pictures.  After the nature walk, I went on Ft. Lee to go to the Gym .  I rode 3 miles on a bike and left.  For dinner, I went to Taco Bell.  Now I’m back in the hotel suite.

Danny is returning to Fort Lee from Fort AP Hill.  The funny thing is, I drove right by where they are staying in the field tonight.  Tomorrow I have to go to a medical screening at Kenner Army Hospital to be cleared for traveling to Germany.  I am not looking forward to the shots I will be receiving because I know there will be at least 5. :(.  The appointment is at 10 a.m. I am excited to be getting this taken care of now so we can make more progress in getting ready for Germany.

Ahhh, I’m so excited!  My 21st  birthday is in 3 days!

Opportunity

Volunteer, volunteering:

1. To perform or offer to perform a service of one’s own free will.

2. To do charitable or helpful work without pa

Networking:

1 : the exchange of information or services among individuals, groups, or institutions; specifically : the cultivation of productive relationships for employment or business

(6/04) Today when I called the Family Advocacy Program to sign up for classes, I was presented an opportunity.  The calling to be a volunteer.  I think it would be beneficial for me to start now so that the transition into military employment will be easier.

(6/07) I attended an Anger Management class today at nine in the morning.  This morning Danny woke up at 3:15 to prepare for his first day of the FTX.  In order to keep the truck while he is gone, I had to drop him off at 4:45 a.m. o_O.  I then drove to McDonalds and ordered a bacon McGriddle Combo / Orange juice.  I fell asleep from 6 to 7:42, got up, and left at 8:30 a.m.  I was the only attendant in the class, again.

“Why is this happening? I don’t know.  Will we ever understand our broken dreams and unmet expectations? On this side of heaven, quite possibly not.  Does the way we respond to it really matter? More than you will ever know.”

Managing Anger is necessary to get through conflicts, address, and resolve, difficult situations and to survive in a healthy marriage.

The apostle Paul wrote in Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (TNIV).

God bless all of you.

Army Community Service

“Putting Soldiers and Families First.”

I have to say, they honor that motto very well.  I attended a class with the size of one attendant.  Yes, they held a 6 hour class session on account of me.  I was quite surprised when I found that out but it was beneficial for my question list.    I had four different instructors that covered sections 1 to 10.  Might I mention free lunch from Chick-fil-A.  Yes!

I learned a lot from the military wives that taught the classes.  Their personal stories, instruction, encouragement, and advice was truly what made the class as informative as it turned out to be.  One of my instructors had PCS’d to Germany for a period of 7 years.  She willingly stayed to answer any questions I had and provided adequate information regarding other topics I didn’t ask about.  The next class is a two-day session that takes place next week.  I am excited about it.  Praise the Lord today for Danny doing great on his record PFT today!

Welcome to Virigina, Baby!

This is the first day of week three in Virginia with Danny.  I came up here on the 18th of May, after we realized that we would save more money by being together than being apart.

Spending the last month apart was a lot of fun for me because I got to experience some true independence.  I continued to work part-time at Boston’s and I was able to get  all of our belongings packed and ready for our upcoming move to Danny’s first duty station.

During the first two weeks in Virginia, I have had to stay in the hotel. Up until last Tuesday,  I was not permitted to drive Danny’s truck on Post nor I didn’t have an updated ID card.  Tomorrow, I will attend an Army Family Team Building Class on Army Basics.  After visiting the Soldier Support Center, I picked up different class brochures for military spouses and family members.  The plan is that I am going to attend one to two classes a week while Danny is at his classes.

Gay.  I just typed an entire story of how memorial weekend went but it got deleted somehow.  Oh well, that’s all for now I guess.
